NEW RELIC THEATRE has announced the cast and design team for their upcoming production of The Goo by K. Rose Dallimore (Kennedy Center Open Doors Festival, The Quickening Room, Bottlecap Press) and directed by Eliza Palter (LubDub Theatre Company, Union Hall, Theater J).
The Goo follows six friends meeting for their annual picnic in Prospect Park—a harmless tradition that’s starting to rot. Old grudges flare, nerves twitch, and something’s… off. This dark comedy, inspired by The Importance of Being Earnest, peers into the strange rituals of friendship and the stories we invent to keep it all from falling apart.
“K. Rose has this incredible way of layering absurdity and ache in this play,” said director Eliza Palter. “The Goo is hilarious and unhinged and sharp, yes—but it also sneaks up on you. It’s about invented people and real friendship, and what it costs to keep up a performance.”
“We’re also very excited that K. Rose has given us the opportunity to work with an ensemble cast again, which was how New Relic Theatre really got started,” added producer Chris Phillips. “It’s a piece that shows how our vision has evolved over the past few years, and melds ideas from several previous seasons into a single production.”
The ensemble cast will feature Anna Rudegeair, Daniel Ison, Kaleb Baker, Kat Quiñones, Kelsey Malanowski, Nicole Albanese, and Vena Howard.
The Goo will also feature set design by George Tsourounakis, lighting design by Emma Wills-Umdenstock, sound design by Nate Dallimore, costume design by Lily Dozer, production stage management by Ellery Cordes, assistant direction by Elijah Levi-Dabby, publicity & marketing by Omar Khan, and photo & videography by Jennifer Loo.
The Goo will be directed by Eliza Palter and produced by Chris Phillips. Performances will run from September 19 through September 28, 2025 at The Chain Theatre (312 W 36th St., 4th Floor, New York, NY 10018) as part of The Factory Series @Chain Theatre, which provides renters with production support which may include subsidized space, rehearsal studios, and equipment and the overarching marketing, publicity, and technology enhancements for the theater. Tickets can be purchased at newrelictheatre.org/upcoming.
